Nikon AI, AIS and non-AI lenses? |
|
So waiting to get my blade and trying to get a set of nikon lenses together - AI, AIS and non-AI is confusing me - can someone explain and tell me which I need for the blade?
Thanks!

Simply put: any F-mount lens will do. Nikon has used the same F-mount bajonet for 50 years. AI, AIS are just systems the Nikon camera uses to index what F-stop the lens was set to. It was a mechanical system with a little hook or latch that hooked or latched into the camera to tell the ancient electronics how to meter the exposure. So for use with an Adapter its totally not important.
pre-ai and AIS lenses just happen to have a very nice mechanical quality to them. But the basic idea is: ANY lens with the Nikon F-mount (this even includes the Zeiss ZF) and manual / mechanical aperture ring will work on your adapter. (watch out on ebay: rangefinder lenses do NOT work)
Hope this helps.

No problem, check out this website for lens reviews to give you some ideas of what to hunt for:

If they have the F-mount for SLR nikons and not range finder, and come with a manual aperture ring: YES

DX lenses will not work on the Blade as they do not cover a 35mm sensor...

They do actually.
But you'll need to zoom more.
And know that 18mm DX is not 18mm FF. It's more or less ~28mm.
So - YEs
You'll just have the focus lenght and the distortion
